The Boothbay Harbor Police Department and Officer Larry Brown honored Boothbay Region High School senior Dimitry "Dima" Gosselin this week as an honorary officer for "a job well done" during an emergency.

According to Brown (and posted on the BHPD Facebook page), on Wednesday, Jan. 4, Gosselin was driving on Lakeview Road in Boothbay Harbor when he observed the occupant of another vehicle making motions as if he needed help.

"Mr. Gosselin stopped his vehicle to render assistance. The other vehicle occupant exited his SUV and collapsed with a medical emergency. Mr. Gosselin called 911, diverted traffic around the individual, and directed police officers and ambulance personnel to the scene, all while speaking to the man to keep him calm. Mr. Gosselin stayed on the phone, followed medical procedures given to him by the Lincoln County 911 Communications providing vital information to responding emergency crews."

Gosselin is the son of Mark and Jennifer Gosselin of Boothbay Harbor.

"A tip of the hat from all the officers here at the Boothbay Harbor Police Department to local standout student-athlete Dima Gosselin," said Officer Brown on Friday.

"I asked (students) Carter Babcock, Jacob Leonard, Kate Friant and a few others to join me when I presented him with the honorary badge," said Brown. "He was grinning ear to ear."
