The Boothbay Region Elementary School boys basketball team defeated Bristol, 50-28, in Busline League playoff action Feb. 5 in Boothbay Harbor. The Wildcats used a patient offensive attack in beating the Bristol zone defense. “We played extremely well on offense,” said Coach Dennis Dacus. “We were patient, and broke down their zone using effective bounce passes.”

The Wildcats had eight players who scored. Peyton Barter was the leading scorer with 17. Other Wildcat scorers were Ethan Clark, 11; Alex Ross, nine; Chase Licursi, four; Lessie White Jr., three; and Spencer Wack, Aiden Jewett, and Caleb Bates, two each.

Boothbay improves to 13-1. The Wildcats will play undefeated Nobleboro, which dealt Boothbay Region its only loss this season, in the division championship game on Feb. 7. Dacus described the earlier meeting versus Nobleboro as a tight contest. “We didn’t shoot the ball well and missed too many free throws, but if we play our game I think we have a good chance.”

The Southern Division championship game is at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7 in Nobleboro.
