Winner of the 1988 Tony Award of Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical, “Into The Woods” continues at the Boothbay Playhouse for six more shows. Based on the well-known fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm, “Into the Woods” leads the audience on a fantastical journey.

When a Baker and his wife learn they’ve been cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door, they embark on a quest for the special objects required to break the spell, meeting up with a cast of well known characters including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Jack the giant killer.

This award winning musical weaves together the beloved fairy tales, and then ventures into the unknown territory of life after "happily ever after.”

One of composer Stephen Sondheim's most popular works, “Into the Woods” is a musically sophisticated show that is alternately hilarious and thought provoking, as the consequences of the characters actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.

Remaining shows are July 24, 25, 26, 30, 31 and August 1 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $23 for adults and $19 for children 17 years old or younger. Tickets can be purchased at the Boothbay Playhouse box office or by calling 207-633-3379.

The Boothbay Playhouse is located at 275 Wiscasset Road/Route 27, Boothbay.
