Boothbay outruns Lisbon, 63-44

Sun, 02/04/2018 - 8:30am

Boothbay took advantage of several first-half turnovers by Lisbon and the Greyhounds’ cold three-point shooting in a 63-44 win at Porter Memorial Gymnasium Saturday night.

Although Lisbon made 11 three-pointers on the game, Boothbay’s fine defensive rebounding and pesky zone defense spelled an early defeat of the Greyhounds. The Seahawks led at halftime, 35-22. Several first-half baskets were scored by Steve Reny after he picked off several passes and raced in for a lay-up. Reny scored 10 of his game-high 18 points in the first half.

Eli Gudroe (16 points) and Hunter Crocker (seven points) were the team’s leading rebounders.

Kyle Ames added 13 points for Boothbay, which improves to 12-5 on the season with one regular season game to play against Telstar scheduled for Wednesday at home at 5:30 p.m.

Lisbon (8-9, Class B South), which had beaten Boothbay, 64-52, at home in early December, was led by Jonah Sautter with 14 points, followed by D.J. Douglass with 13.
