Turnovers and a tough Madison defense caused the Boothbay Region High School varsity boys basketball team to lose its seventh game of the season Thursday night, as the Bulldogs pulled out a 63-52 win at Porter Memorial Gymnasium.

The Seahawks (11-7) are currently seeded in sixth place in the Class C South standings, while Madison improved to 15-3 and are seeded in third place.

Four three pointers in the first quarter, three by Ty Greene (22 points), put Boothbay behind early, but Boothbay managed to tie the game, 17-17, early in the second quarter. Madison took a 34-30 lead into the locker room at the half and pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring the Seahawks, 17-7. Leading 51-37 with eight minutes to play, the Bulldogs never let Boothbay get closer than eight points until the final buzzer.

Abel Bryer led Boothbay with 18 points, followed by Kyle Ames with 11. Nick Gorey and Jacob Leonard each scored 10 points.

Besides Greene’s game high 22 points, Madison got 15 points from Chase Malloy, and eight points each from Devon Watt and Sean Whalen.
