Boothbay boys win 54-47 thriller over Madison

For 32 minutes, the Boothbay  and Madison boys’ battled for a key victory in the Maine Class C South Heal Point basketball standings. When the final buzzer sounded, it was Boothbay who claimed a 54-47 victory at Porter Memorial Gymnasium. Boothbay was 11th entering the game and Madison was eighth. With two games remaining, Boothbay’s victory put them on track to claim a playoff spot. Finn Harkins led the Seahawks in scoring with 22. Madison’s Nathan Cornforth kept the Bulldogs close with a game-high 24 points. He also scored his team’s first 16 points.

Other Seahawk scorers were Luke Morley, 14; Tyson French, 7; Spencer Wenners, 6; Braden Davis, 3 and Aidric Canada had 2. 

Boothbay (5-11) has two games remaining. On Feb. 6, the Seahawks host  No. 2 Mt. Abram (13-0) at 6:30 p.m. The final regular season contest is versus  Class B Spruce Mountain (10-5) in  at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 8 in Jay.
