The Harbor Theatre

"Wiener," rate R, is playing thru Thursday, June 23 at 7 p.m., followed by the Black Comedy "The Lobster" starting Friday at The Harbor Theatre.
Former U.S. Representative Anthony Weiner (married to Huma Abedin, long-time personal aide to Hillary Clinton), still reeling from the sex scandal that ended his political career two years earlier, makes a catastrophic race for Mayor of New York City in 2013. This is the backdrop for the fascinating behind-the-scenes documentary, "Weiner". Sexts, lies, and "Carlos Danger": it’s 2013 and Anthony Weiner is in the spotlight as he mounts an audacious comeback campaign for New York City mayor. But it’s not long before history repeats itself and new sexting allegations leave Weiner and his aides scrambling to contain the damage. Granted unfettered access to the candidate and his campaign, filmmakers Josh Kriegman and Elyse Steinberg capture a jaw-dropping, behind-the-scenes look at the political machine as it melts down.

"The Lobster" In a dystopian near future, single people, according to the laws of The City, are taken to The Hotel, where they are obliged to find a romantic partner in 45 days or are transformed into beasts and sent off into The Woods. That is the premise of the critically acclaimed and multi-award winning film, "The Lobster," the first English language film by Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos.

Steven Rea, reviewing for The Philadelphia Inquirer describes "The Lobster" as "...what would happen if Wes Anderson set about doing Franz Kafka, with a hefty dash of George Orwell thrown into the mix: surreal, comic, sad, strange, beautiful, sublime." "The Lobster" has won numerous awards, including the Jury prize at Cannes Film Festival.

"The Lobster" stars Colin Farrell, Rachel Weisz, Jessica Barden, Olivia Colman, Ashley Jensen, Ariane Labed, Angeliki Papoulia, John C. Reilly, Léa Seydoux and Michael Smiley. It's rated R and plays Friday, June 24 thru Thursday, June 30 at 7 p.m. and Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.

NT Live’s Encore Series: “One Man, Two Guvnors.” For a limited time only, National Theatre Live’s Encore Series brings a selection of award-winning British theatre productions to your local cinema. Featuring a Tony Award-winning performance from host of the “The Late Late Show,” James Corden, the uproarious “One Man, Two Guvnors” was a runaway hit both in London’s West End and on Broadway. Playing Thu., June 23 at 7 p.m. Tickets available at the door starting at 6 p.m.

"Sing Street." From director John Carney (Once, Begin Again), "Sing Street" takes us back to 1980s Dublin seen through the eyes of a 14-year-old boy named Conor (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo) who is looking for a break from a home strained by his parents' relationship and money troubles, while trying to adjust to his new inner-city public school where the kids are rough and the teachers are rougher. He finds a glimmer of hope in the mysterious and beautiful Raphina (Lucy Boynton), and with the aim of winning her heart he invites her to star in his band's music videos. There's only one problem: he's not part of a band ... yet. She agrees, and now Conor must deliver what he's promised — calling himself "Cosmo" and immersing himself in the vibrant rock music trends of the decade, he forms a band with a few lads, and the group pours their heart into writing lyrics and shooting videos. Inspired by writer/director John Carney's life and love for music, “Sing Street” shows us a world where music has the power to take us away from the turmoil of everyday life and transform us into something greater. Playing Fri., June 24, Thu., June 30 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Presented in partnership with Northeast Security Systems.
