Bartles for school board of trustees
Dear Editor:
My name is Mike Bartles, and I am running as a write-in candidate for the Boothbay Harbor vacancy on the CSD Board of Trustees. I moved to the Boothbay region in 2013 to pursue a career as a sailmaker. Since 2018, I have run my own sailmaking firm in Boothbay. My wife and I were drawn to the strong sense of community here and made our home in Boothbay Harbor, where we live with our two sons. Our oldest is now a student at BRES.
Education has always been important to me. Before moving to Maine, I worked at Mystic Seaport Museum, where I taught maritime history to school groups and the public. Even today, if you catch me in the shop or on a boat, I will ramble on and on about the reasoning behind the tiniest details of my trade. I understand just how important a quality education is, and clearly have a vested interest in the school system. This is why I want to serve the town of Boothbay Harbor in this role.
As a taxpayer and a business owner, I also understand the importance of fiscal responsibility and accountability. If elected, I will work to uphold high educational standards while exploring cost-saving and sustainable solutions to the challenges facing our schools. I will also seek input and collaboration from the broader community to ensure that everyone’s voices are represented.
I would be honored to represent our community on the Boothbay Harbor Board of Trustees. I hope to earn your support and your write-in vote.
Mike Bartles
Boothbay Harbor
