Apology to BRAS

Mon, 02/26/2024 - 3:00pm

Dear Editor:

I want to publicly offer my profound apologies for my rude and inappropriate remarks about the large disparity between the warrant amounts being requested by the Boothbay Region Ambulance Service vs. the Boothbay Region Health Center at the Boothbay Select Board meeting on Feb. 14. My remarks were off the cuff, ill-considered, and unfortunate. I made a big mistake in referring to another non-profit in a public forum, in any but the most flattering of terms.

I did not intend my remarks to disparage in any way the exceptional service that BRAS provides to the residents and visitors on the Boothbay peninsula. I greatly admire the work that BRAS does 24x7, 365 days/year. The Ambulance Service provides the lifeline that makes living in Boothbay possible for all of us. Nor did I intend that my remarks would diminish the value that BRAS provides and the need that BRAS has for municipal support. I am certain that the Selectmen of the Town of Boothbay and the voters of Boothbay fully appreciate the need for financial support of our own independent, local, and superb ambulance service.

Again, my apologies to the Boothbay Region Ambulance Service, the Boothbay Select Board, the Board of the Boothbay Region Health Center, and the voters of Boothbay.
