Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club
Despite a slight programming glitch on Thursday, the meeting went off without a hitch. You say, how can that be? Well, it's because we all just enjoyed the chance to visit and chat with one another. And also, the chance to go home a bit earlier, especially on another frigidly cold winter night. This has been a really cold, snowy winter (just like the old days). It's easy to get cabin fever during winters like this, but luckily every Thursday night we get to spend time together, share stories and laughter.
We’re also enjoying dinners prepared by our new chef, Jules Arsenault. This week was a healthy, warming pea soup, molasses corn bread, and a fabulous and very healthy salad. New Year diet resolutions were yummily and easily met. That is until the chef-made hot fudge sundaes with all the fixings came out. The line of folks going back for soup seconds diminished substantially after the sundaes appeared. No surprise there.
We had an impromptu Program Committee meeting after dinner. Lots of good ideas were discussed, but if you have one, be it a speaker or a fun program, please let Irene know.
This week members of the Biddeford-Saco Club are joining us to talk about their Global Grant in Uganda. Global Grants are funded through contributions from individual Rotary clubs locally and world wide and matched by the Rotary Foundation. They are an inspirational example of people working together for a better world one project at a time. Glad to say our Rotary Club donated money towards this Global Grant at our December board meeting.
Remember, dues are due ($142). Just send a check to Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club, P.O. Box 518, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538 or bring it to the meeting.
We meet every Thursday at 6 p.m. at our clubhouse, 66 Montgomery Road, Boothbay Harbor. Come join us for dinner, usually an interesting program, and always fun and fellowship.
