The annual downtown Halloween Parade in Boothbay Harbor Oct. 31 stretched from the Memorial Library to Ae Ceramics at the intersection of Union Street and Townsend Avenue ... and the costumed characters just kept on coming along the approximately quarter-mile stretch. Someday, someone will get a count of how many participate in the fun event but the rough estimate by a roaming photographer is that between 600 and 700 people showed up this year to trick or treat along McKown Street and Townsend Avenue. Generous merchants and others handed out candy and other items for the kids holding out their bags. As always, there was a great variety of costumes – worn by both young and not so young – and, once again, the rain held off. Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library organizes the parade. Boothbay Harbor Police Department kept the parade participants safe by directing traffic along the route.
