Class of 2018 Baccalaureate
On Sunday, June 3, Boothbay Region High School seniors and their friends and families attended Baccalaureate at The Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor. Clergy participants were: Richard Rego of United Methodist Cooperative Parish, Maria Hoecker of St. Columba’s Episcopal Church, Steve Nash of Boothbay Baptist Church, Father Thomas Murphy of Our Lady of Peace, and Sarah Foulger of the Congregational Church. Genie O’Connell was the Minister of Music.
Foulger gave the welcome and Nash gave the invocation. Seniors Sydney Meader and Cameron Crocker gave the Litany of Thanksgiving which was followed by scripture readings by Evy Chase and Jo Shaw – Psalm 119: 129-135 and Matthew 5:1-16, respectively. Senior Max Hoecker read Charles H. Gabriel’s “Let Your Light Shine” and Jackie McLoon performed Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.” Seniors Page Brown, Emily Amaral and Summer Chamberlin each gave a short speech before Hoecker gave prayer for the class. All sang the hymn “This Little Light of Mine” before the clergy’s Blessing of the Graduates was performed and the seniors exited to the recessional music.
