The high humidity didn’t stop the hundreds of people from attending and buying tons of items at the 61st annual Rotary Auction on Sherman Field, Boothbay Region High School Saturday, Aug. 4. The high school, elementary school and neighboring YMCA parking lots were already just about full by the time the flea market, book sale, boutique, tool and furniture areas were open at 8 a.m. Co-chairman of the auction Debbie Graves said she had never seen so many people at the auction. The light rain held off until the live auction, conducted by professional auctioneer Bob Foster for the 25th year, was over. Then it was cleanup time.
