Creepy dinner and Scary Readings at the Opera House

Event has passed

As fallen leaves begin to skitter across the roads in the region, other things are beginning to skitter inside the old Opera House in Boothbay Harbor. Webs are being woven. Objects and creatures of uncertain age are emerging from long forgotten dust-laden boxes. The music so common to the Opera House stage, now sounds suddenly not quite as inviting. Preparations for the Thursday, Oct. 26 annual Halloween Potluck and Scary Readings event are underway.

The evening is not intended for children, and is designed for an adult audience. It will include readings and true nightmarish accounts from Southport resident Phil Brooks, Lynne McGhee, Millie Santiago and the evening’s host, Kevin Kiley. Other, unexpected guests, may appear on stage during the evening.

Seating for the potluck dinner will be at approximately 6 p.m., with the doors creaking open at 5:30 p.m. for early arrivals. No tickets or reservations are required, but everyone is asked to bring a plate and eating utensils in addition to a potluck offering including salads, side dishes, main courses, and desserts. Guests are asked not to bring bread or liquid refreshments. Please bring a serving utensil appropriate for your potluck dish.

The bar will have soft drinks, beer and wine available for sale. Those not interested in the potluck dinner, but curious to hear this year’s unsettling tales, are welcome to arrive at 6:30 p.m. The readings will begin at 6:45 p.m.

Those who dare to have questions may call the spirits at 633-6855.
