Submissions still open for ‘Mainely Nude’ at BRAF

Event has passed

Boothbay Region Art Foundation will be having an exhibit celebrating the human form in paintings, sculpture, photography and mixed media titled “Mainely Nude.” The non-juried show runs from Feb. 11 through March 3 at the gallery located at 1 Townsend Ave. in Boothbay Harbor.

The original show celebrating the human form here in Boothbay Harbor goes back to 2017 and was known as “What’s Nude In Boothbay Harbor.” That show was the brainchild of Patricia Royall who originally named the show “What’s Nude” in 2001 at a Brunswick gallery she ran and then at her own gallery in Richmond before becoming executive director at the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce. It was during her years at the Chamber she decided to bring the show to the Region.

Artists - members and non-members - are required to submit a registration form with a photo of their submitted work: up to two pieces in the form of paintings, sculpture, fiber, mixed media and photography are welcome.  A copy of the form and full information is available at www.boothbayartists.org or by calling the gallery at 207-633-2703.

The entry fee for “Mainely Nude” is $25 (whether one or two pieces are submitted). Entries need to be delivered to the gallery, ideally, between Feb. 2-4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Winter hours are Thursday - Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Call the gallery if you are working on a piece for the show and need more time at 633-2703.

All work is for sale (unless otherwise noted). A 35% commission will be charged for pieces sold.

A public reception will be held Saturday, Feb. 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. with refreshments - and some interesting door prizes!
