Bake sale at Ames July 9 for Set for Success

Event has passed

Wiscasset Feed Our Scholars (FOS) is busy procuring school supplies that will help the Wiscasset Elementary School (WES) children be ready for a successful start to the 2022-23 school year.  To that end, the group is planning a bake sale on Saturday, July 9 from 7:30 to 1:30, at Ames Supply in Wiscasset. When going to Ames for those weekend project needs, stop by the Feed Our Scholars table to buy some delicious goodies baked by local supporters of Set For Success (S4S).

On Sunday, Aug. 14, from 1 to 3 p.m. at WES on Federal Street, there will be a happy celebration during which the WES students and their families can pick up their red and black backpacks, complete with wolf paw print (the school’s mascot) into which they will put their teacher-required supplies. But that’s only the beginning of the event. FOS is working hard to have informative displays and community information. There will also be Healthy Lincoln County’s food truck offering lunch; the Wiscasset fire and police will be there, as well as a school bus, for a diminutive touch-a-truck event; hairdressers will offer children a chance for a pre-school clip; St. Philip’s Bargain Basement will have a free gently used clothes shopping area for the children. These and more community groups are coming together to make it a celebration of education and the children’s future.

This opportunity is open to all WES students and home-schooled children who would qualify to attend WES, no matter financial ability. Donations can be mailed to St. Philip's Church, 12 Hodge St., Wiscasset, ME 04578. Please note "Feed Our Scholars" or "Set for Success" on the memo line. Or, one can buy supplies and leave them in boxes at St. Philip’s Church hall at 12 Hodge St., Wiscasset or, easier still, visit the group’s Amazon wish list at where the supplies on the list can be bought and sent to St. Philip’s for you.

For more information, please visit, our Facebook page at, or call St. Philip’s at 882-7184, leaving a brief message with a return number and name for a return call by a committee person.

And don’t forget to swing by Ames on July 9 to pick up some home-baked goodies to help the cause.
