After taking a summer due to COVID-19 restrictions, the popular open mic night returns to the Southport General Store, 443 Hendricks Hill Road, for the month of August.
Each Thursday night starting Thursday, Aug. 5, from 6 p.m. to dark, the public and artists are invited to come together at the store, weather permitting. In the past, the music has been mostly folk, folk-rock, 50’s and 60’s covers, and a sprinkling of original material.
The venue will be the new seating area between the store and gift barn, so there will be plenty of room for everyone.
There is no cost of admission, however the public is reminded that there are mosquitos in Maine, that it can get nippy after dark, that singing along is required, although tie-dyed clothing is optional.
Artists who would like to perform should contact organizer Skip Simonds via email at firstname.lastname@example.org to be put on the performance list. In the event of inclement weather, there is no rain date.
Social distancing and masking requirements for the audience is required and all artists must be vaccinated to perform.
