Boothbay Region High School’s 2021 basketball season will start Thursday, Jan. 14, with the girls varsity hosting Winthrop at 6 p.m. and the varsity boys traveling to Winthrop for a 6 p.m. game.

Under the Maine Principals Association’s and Maine CDC COVID-19 rules, no fans will be allowed at the games; only game/school officials and media, with a total of 50 people allowed. The newspaper will be covering the home games, as will Boothbay Region TV, Channel 7 on cable. BRTV manager Jonne Trees said the plan is to broadcast the home games live on Channel 7, 1301, boothbaytv.com, AppleTV, Roku, and Facebook pages..  Midcoast radio station Frank-FM, 106.9 will be broadcasting some of the Seahawks’ games (see related article).

As has been announced, the MPA is allowing games to be scheduled in each participating school’s geographic area (same county or adjacent county). There will be no post-season MPA tournament this year.
