Montessori students brighten grocery deliveries

Students from pre-school through 8th grade at Damariscotta Montessori School decorated grocery bags to brighten up deliveries from Main Street Grocery in Damariscotta. The students used art supplies on hand at home to turn plain brown bags into masterpieces as part of their community service projects for the week of April 13. DMS students will do a simple and meaningful service project for the community each week while distance learning is in place.

The bags are used to hold grocery deliveries for shut-ins and those who are self-quarantining during the Corona Virus epidemic.  Jane Gravel, owner of Main Street Grocery, shared that the store is very happy to have the student artwork: “They bring smiles to both those filling the bags with grocery orders and those who receive them. One customer said it was the most beautiful bag! Many customers are saving them to reuse.”
