Dinner to benefit Costa Rica trip

Mon, 11/18/2019 - 4:00pm

On Friday, Nov. 22 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. there will be a spaghetti dinner to benefit the students traveling to Costa Rica during April vacation of 2020. The dinner will take place at the Rotary Club Hall in Boothbay Harbor and will include spaghetti, salad, bread, drinks and dessert. Prices will be $10 for adults, $5 for students and $25 for a family.

The students will be traveling to San José, Costa Rica’s capital and then on to the east coast to Tortuguero for a canal tour, a school visit and two national parks to discuss conservation. Then they will go on to Sarapiqui for a white-water rafting trip as well as a night walk through the rain forest. From Sarapiqui they will travel to the town of Arenal where there is an active volcano and hot springs and visit two more National parks. Other activities include a zip line, canopy tour, horseback riding and lastly to the Pacific coast to visit Guanacaste Beach. Since one quarter of Costa Rica’s land is in national parks or preserves, the majority of sight-seeing there is in ecotourism.
