I own and operate an electrical contracting company in the Boothbay region. Having consistent year-round business is vital to employing full-time people and providing good wages and benefits.
As I look at the articles that Boothbay Harbor will be voting on May 3, it’s that kind of development we believe will help businesses like ours as the community grows. There are important protections for the working waterfront. We know there will be lost revenue with the addition of non-profit properties on the east side and there needs to be a way to make it up so that taxes are kept in check.
The consideration that has gone into this process has been thorough – from the planning board to the select board and the time it has taken to get all the input. I hope if you care about business and what it means to the tax base, you will vote yes on articles 3, 4 and 5.
