Firefighters’ convention in Boothbay now set for 2017

Boothbay Fire Chief Dick Spofford announced Thursday that the town of Boothbay will now host the Maine State Federation of Firefighters annual convention in 2017, not 2018 as was previously announced in early March.
"The town of Winslow announced it couldn't get enough manpower to host in 2017 so we accepted," said Spofford. "We will have time to plan."
When Boothbay hosted the convention in 2008, upwards of 4,000 people participated. The 2017 convention will occur over a three-day period the second weekend in September.
