Rev. Sarah Foulger’s last Sunday at Congo Church
This Sunday, the Rev. Dr. Sarah Foulger will preach her last sermon as pastor of the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor. Sarah and her husband, Russ Hoffman, are entering into retirement. She plans to spend more time writing, walking, hanging out with her family, and keeping her eyes open to the movement of God’s spirit in this world. Sarah was the first woman to serve as pastor of the church, and served for 16 years, longer than any previous minister.
In her honor, Eugenie O’Connell, minister of music, will offer an organ concert before worship, starting at 9:20 a.m. Worship will include Sarah’s sermon, entitled, “For the Love of the Saints who Surround Us.” The Bell Choir will play and the Vocal Choir will sing a beautiful new anthem composed by Aaron Robinson for this occasion.
A reception following worship will take place in the Fellowship Hall downstairs in the church facility. Everyone is welcome. For additional information, please visit the church website: www.congochurchbbh.org
