The Boothbay Selectmen are closing in on hiring a new town manager. According to Selectman Steven Lewis, the board is negotiating with a candidate in hopes of reaching an agreement by the next board meeting.

The selectmen received 37 applications to succeed James Chaousis as the town manager. The board held three interviews on March 30 and 31. The selectmen scheduled an April 14 meeting to consider their options. On April 15, Lewis reported the board was in contract negotiations with a potential successor. 

“We have a contract proposal out there and hopefully next week at the board meeting we can make it official,” Lewis said.

The selectmen will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22 in the municipal building.
