Lincoln County Commissioners discuss jail, composting, more
Meeting on Tuesday, Lincoln County commissioners reviewed a varied agenda which included interim funding for the jail, composting and updating personnel policies.
The board discussed LD 186, which, if enacted, would have eliminated the Maine Board of Corrections. Some provisions of LD 186 have now been included in LD 236 “An Act To Adjust Appropriations and Allocations From the General Fund.”
Among many other funding provisions, LD 236 provides one-time funding of $2,488,000 to Maine’s jails for an anticipated shortfall in fiscal year 2014-15. It is currently under review by the Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee of the Maine Legislature.
Commissioners were informed that Lincoln County will hold a composting event on May 15 and May 16 and will include an e-waste collection as a part of the event. Additional information and a list of items that can be accepted will be available in May.
The board of commissioners approved a proposal from L. Bouchard & Associates, to assist with updating and improving the county’s personnel policy manual. The manual has not been updated since 2008 and needs revisions that reflect changes since that time.
Work specified under the agreement is the creation of a comprehensive manual for use by employees and supervisors with regard to human resources policies and procedures for Lincoln County.
The project will cost $2,548.30 and the contract was approved by the board.
