Y-Arts to present ‘Madagasgar Jr.’
Y-Arts will present “Madagasgar Jr.” at St. Columba's Episcopal Church, 32 Emery Lane, Boothbay Harbor on Saturday, June 10 with two performances at 1 and 6 p.m. General admission $5.
Emily Mirabile, arts & humanities director at the Boothbay Region YMCA, chose the show based on requests from a few of the regular Y-Arts performers.
“Madagasgar Jr.” has a cast of 30 kids most of whom are from the Boothbay Region Y-Arts program with a few friends from the Damariscotta CLC YMCA included.
Mirabile has come up with her own choreography for the show, as she often does. “’Madagasgar Jr. is a fun selection and the show even includes my favorite song that I’ve had the kids dance to all of the time, “I Like to Move It!’
The cast has been rehearsing Fridays for the past month, and they are: Forest Holbrook, Marlowe Recoing-Tallen, Emerson Harris, Jordan Chamness, Sydney Riley, Brynna Nelson, Meg Sledge, Veda Harriman, Jackson Ross, Emma Castonia, Caleb Innes, Spencer Pottle, Charlee Fuchswanz, Sarah Harris, Sophia Scott, Maeve Cullina, Jessie Major, Lexie Houghton, Kaley Edgar, Renner Lucas, Simeon Bates, Trey Tibbetts, Beatrix Recoing-Tallen, Camden McCool, Josephine Shea, Sophia Mansfield, Alex Ross, Allie Ferierra, Arabella Hodgdon nnd Eliza Chase.
Costuming for this production will have the animals in tye-dyed clothing, each with its own color, headpieces and ears.
“We are very excited about doing the shows at St. Columba’s because of its acoustics and beautiful background,” Mirabile said.
