Fri, 03/08/2019 - 8:45am

Be there when the curtain goes up at the Lincoln Theater for the Central Lincoln County and Boothbay Region YMCA’s Y-Arts musical production of “The Lion King Jr.” Directed and choreographed by Arts and Humanities Director Emily Mirabile, the show is sure to provide an evening of fun and entertainment.

“The Lion King Jr.” tells the story of the epic adventures of a curious cub named Simba as he struggles to accept the responsibilities of adulthood and his destiny as king. Along the way, the young lion encounters a colorful cast of characters including spunky lioness Nala, charismatic meerkat Timon, and loveable warthog Pumbaa. To claim his rightful place on the throne and save his beloved Pridelands, Simba must find his inner strength and confront his wicked Uncle Scar. “The Lion King Jr.” features classic songs from the 1994 film such as “Hakuna Matata” and the Academy Award®-winning “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” as well as additional songs penned for the Broadway production. The African savannah comes to life on stage with Simba, Rafiki and an unforgettable cast of characters as they journey from Pride Rock to the jungle ... and back again, in this inspiring, coming-of-age tale.

Shows are on Friday, March 8 at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, March 9 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and Sunday, March 10 at 5:30 p.m. General admission is $5. Lincoln Theater is located at 2 Theater Street in Damariscotta.
