A wonderful day for veterans
Dear Editor:
What a delight! Boothbay Region lobstermen took local veterans on a wonderful ride out to Cuckolds and then around Southport and back to Tugboat Sunday morning. That was followed by a great cookout on the grill of hot dogs and burgers. Coupled with a cool, sunny day it truly was a perfect Maine day. And what an honor for our veterans! We all appreciated the thoughtfulness of everyone who participated to make this a very special occasion of remembrance of our veterans' service. And we enjoyed sharing stories with fellow vets. A special one for me was meeting Paul Adams who served on a submarine in the Pacific during World War II.
Thank you Philip Chapman for organizing this event and especially to all the lobstermen who took their time to share with us a beautiful day on the water. The parade of boats was closely followed by our old friend the Nellie G II who also brought back some wonderful memories. And thanks to Tugboat, Bonnie Stover and all the others who made this a day we all appreciated very much.
Thanks everyone for remembering...
