What the world needs now

    Dear Editor:

    “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common good, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

    What the world needs now is a more perfect union. The Preamble’s intent was to allow for future adjustments; and to agree to disagree while holding fast to an ongoing definition of unity.

    In my lifetime, America has been the standard-bearer for human rights and freedom of speech in a world where some leaders have no such regard for their people. As a result, countless refugees have brought their customs, skills, and ingenuity into America’s rich and diverse society.

    We, the people, are in dire need to elect a president who will protect the tried and true principles of democracy. Our country needs a reliable spokes-person who will fulfill a global need for sensible, direct, and humane solutions. At stake, we have health, environmental, educational, financial and spiritual concerns.

    Our part is to vote for a future that will bring us into a more perfect union, insure domestic tranquility and provide a social security system that works for the interests of all people.
