Voting for candidates with volunteer spirit

Tue, 04/23/2019 - 6:15pm
    Dear Editor:

Our community has had to make strong backward and forward self examinations over the past year, setting us at times in disagreement with one another.  But it is now our turn to move us forward as one community.  We all have the responsibility to voice our choice of two of four people stepping forward and requesting to be select people to guide us over the next few years.

We know two of these candidates well.  They are both very dedicated in volunteering to give back to the citizens of Boothbay Harbor.  Volunteering to give to the entire community exemplifies unselfishness and allegiance to the whole, not just a part. Both Mike Tomko and Ken Fitch have given and continue to give to the well being of all those who live in Boothbay Harbor. They have a very visible track record  of volunteering.  Besides being a current selectman, Mike owns his own contracting business and we have found working with him that he has been a listener, fair, just and honest. Ken is one of the volunteer light keepers that helps us keep the living history at Burnt Island, a rich source of our history that we share with locals and visitors every summer. He knows how to listen, be fair, just and honest.

We highly recommend these two men to be voted by you to the two open selectmen positions in the Harbor - two men who care for the entire community, winter and summer.
