Virtual cabaret in the works

Sat, 05/02/2020 - 8:30am

A virtual cabaret "Get Happy,"  will be shown on channel 1301, Boothbay Region TV & Media Center in late May.

Many students from Boothbay Region High School (BRHS) will be featured as they introduce the musical numbers. Some of the students are Nataleigh Blackman, Journey Bennett, Grace Campbell, and Emerson Harris.

“This has been really fun as we rehearse virtually,” said director Mary Miller of the music and theater arts department of BRHS. “It has been a ray of sunshine getting to work with the singers.”

Tunes include “Get Happy,” “Cabaret,” “Wouldn't It Be Loverly,” “If I were A Bell,” “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” “Orange Colored Sky,” “Forget About The Boy,” “Popular,” “Where Is Love?, “ “Nine to Five,” and a ballad or two.

Miller reports Eric Maki is going to play two piano pieces during the cabaret.

The virtual emcees and some of the music will be recorded in the coming week with professional and creative guidance from station manager Jonne Trees.

Stay tuned for updates.
