High school basketball teams won’t be heading to Augusta this year, but Waldo, Knox and Lincoln county squads will play in a regional tournament. In boys’ and girls’ basketball, six regional schools are involved in a post-season tournament played on the higher seed’s home court.

In boys’ action, Camden Hills is the top-seed with an 8-2 record and Medomak Valley is second, also at 8-2. Both teams receive a first round bye. In the quarterfinal round, No. 4 Mount View (8-4) will host No. 5 Boothbay (5-6) on Friday, March 5 at 5:30 p.m. and No. 3 Oceanside (8-2) hosts No. 6 Belfast (4-7). Both games must be played by Friday, March 5.

Quarterfinal winners will travel to the top two seeds home courts. Camden Hills hosts the Mount View/Boothbay winner on Monday, March 8 (TBD) and Medomak Valley hosts the Oceanside/Belfast winner.

In girls’ action, Oceanside finished 10-0 and is the top-seed. Medomak Valley is second with a 9-1 record. Both Oceanside and Medomak Valley receive first-round byes. In the quarterfinal round, the Lady Seahawks (4-7) are fourth and will host No. 5 Mount View (4-7) on Friday, March 5 at 6 p.m. No. 3 Belfast (5-6) hosts No. 6 Camden (2-8).

Like the boys’ playoff, girls’ quarterfinals must be played by March 5. Oceanside will host the Boothbay/Mount View winner on Monday, March 8 (TBD) and Medomak will host the Belfast/Camden winner.

The regional final will be played at the higher remaining seed’s home court on Wednesday, March 10 (changed from original posting of March 9).
