Emma Markowitz, a homeschooled student from Trevett, placed second in the Animal Sciences category at the Regeneron International Science & Engineering Fair May 13, 2022.

Markowitz was a Grand Award winner at the Maine State Science Fair in May with her project that sought to treat an equine hoof disease by applying Manuka Honey and poly-wrap.

Markowitz’s inspiration comes from her mother’s work as a farrier and her father’s beekeeping. Her involvement in the state event qualified her to present at ISEF.
