Trevett Column: Next potluck Sept. 18

Mon, 09/09/2019 - 8:45am

Kathleen and Joan are organizing the Sept. 18 BICA potluck. Our hostesses would like you to bring an appetizer, main or side dish or dessert to share along with your beverage of choice. As always, coffee and water are available. The new starting time of 5:30 is working out great.

Bill will be providing a presentation about the history of Paleoindians and the occupation of Maine after dinner. Come find out what Maine’s first human arrivals were doing. You won’t want to miss it.

The August hostesses, Judy, Beth and Nancy kept the food table full with quite a variety of offerings. No one went hungry in spite of the 65 mouths to satisfy. Thank you ladies. Dinner was followed by several lively games of bingo with Paul. Regular bingo and picture bingo resulted in lots of winners --- Lee, Annalee, Ed, Jack, Roy, Graham (2 times), Candice and Eric. Sure hope they enjoyed the wonderful prizes.

The Barters Island Community Association Welcome Celebration Cookout on Saturday, Aug. 24 was a really big success. Lots of folks attended, kids played games, the grill boys (Bill, Tom, Alan, Paul and Paul) did an amazing job on the burgers and dogs, and a great time was had by all. Many thanks to all those folks that donated food and special thanks to Andy, Suzanne and Jamie for organizing the event. And a special thanks to all those who attended for the first time. We hope to see some of the new faces back again at a regular potluck.
