What a great night for the first potluck of the year. Approximately 50 folks attended the April event. The was food delicious and plentiful filling both tables end to end with all sorts of yummy entries and salads. If one didn’t get enough to eat it was their own fault. Many thanks to Suzanne, Karen, Kim, Liza and Donna for serving and Judy and Evelyn for keeping the evening on track.

During the April potluck, Evelyn introduced the BICA board members and trustees and explained what BICA is all about. She mentioned that BICA was able to provide Hannaford gift cards to several residents for Easter. This was an addition to the usual helpful things BICA does for its residents. It was also great to meet the many new residents who attended and introduce themselves or were introduced by a neighbor. Evelyn thanked Gage Sherman of Coastal Property Care for his donated work in keeping the hall plowed all winter. All residents and their guests are welcome to attend BICA events. We will do the same thing again at the May potluck on Wednesday, May 18 at 5:30 p.m. All who are fully COVID vaccinated and boosted are invited. As in the past, you are asked to bring either a main dish, a side, a salad or a dessert to share. There will be no sharing of appetizers at this gathering, but you may bring your own for your own use. Be sure to bring your beverage of choice. BICA will have coffee and water available. Appropriately attired in gloves and masks, BICA board members will be doing the serving.

May’s potluck will have a team trivia game for fun. The game will feature May events and dates so folks should start studying now. There is a lot of prestige that comes with saying you are a winner of a BICA trivia night.

As it was last year, the yard sale will be BICA’s only fundraiser for the year so we need everyone’s support. We need saleable items donated for the July 9 event. We do not accept clothing, electronics, large pieces of furniture, or other items that are not easily transportable. If you are unsure about an item you might like to donate please give Louise (207-350-4032) a call to see if it is something that will work. And another reminder as you do your spring garden cleanup, please keep in mind that plants are needed for the sale as well. More details will be provided at the May and June potlucks, by email and by this column.
