Thank you local heroes
Dear Editor:
When a red squirrel electrocuted itself recently, falling to the ground from a utility pole with sparks, our field caught fire and the morning breeze sent smoke and flames toward our house.
Within a couple minutes of our 9-1-1 call, members of Boothbay Fire Department were at the scene, directing the trucks to our yard with two-way radios. When they arrived, the flames were extinguished by jets from two high-pressure hoses. BFD personnel stayed on site for quite a while, making sure that the fire was completely put out.
My wife and I would like to thank these heroes for their prompt and efficient service, pandemic notwithstanding. And a special shout out to neighbor Paul Mayotte, first to arrive and last to leave.
