Support Blakeslee as write-in for Water District board

Mon, 03/25/2019 - 4:00pm

    Dear Editor:

I would like to thank the hard work of many fellow West Harbor Pond Watershed Assoc. board members and past members who started many years ago to gather the scientific and other technical information on water quality in West Harbor Pond. After several years work, about three years ago, a siphon replacement committee was formed and Merritt Blakeslee took on the leadership role to get us through the design phase and implementation. It was wonderful to read his recent article in the Register celebrating the conclusion of the effort to restore this important feature, that shall be a mainstay in the maintenance of high water quality in the pond for years to come. There was tremendous collaboration not only the Pat Farrin team but with the Water District team to get this done.

Looking forward, Merritt has expressed his interest to join the Boothbay Region Water District as a trustee. I believe whole heartedly that Merritt would be a great asset to that board. He was not aware of the cut off timing for application, so we need to support him as a write-in candidate. Please consider adding this talented resource to the Water District board (open seat) with your write-in vote at the coming Boothbay Harbor town elections

    Jon Dunsford
