We’re live!

Head on over to bbhlibrary.org/summerreading2020 to learn more about Summer Reading 2020, Social Distance Edition!

Summer Reading at BHML is still for everyone; adults can join BHML Adult Summer Reading 2020, teens can sign up for BHML High School Summer Reading 2020, and kids should enter into BHML Kids Summer Reading 2020.

Each challenge has its own great prizes.

Kids can win brand-new bicycles thanks to our partnership with the Bay View Masonic Lodge in East Boothbay; a Pusheen basket; one of three Kindle Fire Tablets; a LEGO basket; a kite basket; or a bookworm basket. All of the basket prizes come with ... you guessed it ,,, Books! to keep those young readers busy.

Teens, you can read for a chance to win a gift certificate to Dunkin’ Donuts or a Kindle Fire tablet of your own! Graphic novels totally count.

And adults: mugs, because it’s a tradition now. You get a chance to win one of six cool mugs to fill with the beverage of your choice.

For the kids, there will be two drawings: A Midsummer’s Night Raffle, so we can get the bikes on the road as soon as possible. We’ll be drawing those winners the week of July 20. So kids, you need to hit the ground reading.

The rest of the prizes will be part of the Summer Reading Wrap Up Raffle; we’ll contact winners of all the rest of the prizes on Aug. 14.

How will summer reading work this year? Every time you read, take note of how much time you spent reading. Then when you’re done reading, or once a day, or once a week, head to the website (or download the app) to log your reading. Every hour of reading earns you another badge and more tickets.

The tickets work kind of like the tickets at Chuck E Cheese or an arcade; you win them, and then can “spend” them on raffle entries. The more tickets you enter into each raffle, the higher your odds of winning. And the more you read, the more badges you unlock, the more tickets you earn! So...get reading!

Adults, you have it a little different. You earn your way into the mug raffle by writing book reviews. The more you write, the higher your chances of winning. Past years, we’ve done six-word book reviews. Now, we’re really challenging you by requiring Twitter length book reviews. That’s a whole 280 characters. We know you can do it!

Good luck to all! Happy summer reading!
