“A wonderful, caring community .. .” That was the reaction of one of the many people who came to the Boothbay Harbor Waterfront Preservation’s ‘give away’ event on Nov. 23 at the former Cap’n Fish’s Motel.
To make way for a public park the motel will be razed. We wanted nothing to go to waste therefore everything was to made available to the community. Items to be included on a ‘first come, first served’ basis were: mattresses and box springs, night stands, mirrors, pictures, drapery, desks and chairs, linen, bedspreads, irons and ironing boards, director’s chairs, some outdoor furniture and many miscellaneous items.
Thankfully much was taken and from the many smiles and waves goodbye all was appreciated. The remaining items not taken on Saturday will go down to Portland to help newly arrived immigrant families.
