SSGT Christopher Armstead, U.S. Army (Ret.) and American Legion Post 36 member from Edgecomb places a flag on a veteran’s grave at Evergreen Cemetery in Boothbay on Sunday, May 10 in preparation for Memorial Day, May 25. Teams of veterans from Post 36 and other volunteers placed approximately 800 flags in area cemeteries, including 240 in Evergreen Cemetery, according to Post Commander David Patch. The past year will be remembered for several things, most specifically and especially, COVID-19, and perhaps a presidential race like no other. Our staff did the best they could in getting out and about to record local history through words and photos. Here we present most of our top photos from 2020 – the year that will never be forgotten.
