The Southport Island Association sponsored the second annual Family Fun Day at Southport Central School on Wednesday, July 19.

The first one, held last July, was started by the SIA’s former president Barbara Baseman and current vice president Medea Harris.

“It’s just a fun community event. I like it because it pulls together a lot of different groups,” said Jennifer Baker, from the SIA board of directors. “It’s awesome.”

This year’s event took place with thanks to Baker, Harris, SIA President Gardiner Rapelye and the school’s new principal Lisa Clarke, among many others.

The many activities included knot tying, hair dyeing, a ring toss, limbo, a bounce house, nautical flag making, fortune telling, a cod fish race, a lobster toss, face painting, a pie eating contest, a tug of war, and boat racing. Calvin Crocker, lifeguard and deejay at Boothbay Region YMCA, lent his voice and some beats.
