Senior College Winter Noontime Series explores US international relations
This winter’s Noontime Series programs feature a trio of CSC members whose governmental careers total nearly a century of service. The first program, “What Determined President Carter’s Foreign Policy Decisions?”, led by Bob Rackmales, will be held at noon on Monday, Jan. 26, at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church in Camden.
While the emphasis of this presentation will be on process, Rackmales will briefly discuss some of the long-term implications of Carter’s policy choices with regard to China, Russia, the Middle East and the issue of human rights.
Rackmales is a former Fulbright grantee whose 32 year career in the US foreign service included tours in Nigeria, Somalia, Croatia, Italy and Serbia. He brings a global perspective to our understanding of this nation’s decision-making approaches and policies in the international arena. In 1992 he received the State Department’s highest award for management of an overseas mission.
The CSC Winter Noontime Series takes place on one Monday in January, February and March, in person at different venues throughout the CSC service region of Lincoln and Knox counties. Programs are free to Coastal Senior College members; $5 apiece for non-members. Registration is required.
