Scammed

    Dear Editor:

I just want to share with you that I fell for a Medicare scam the other day which seems to have been set up very professionally, low key and polite. The woman even gave me a name, badge number and a telephone number to call and verify that the call was legitimate.

I actually gave them my Medicare number, which now I understand they could use to file fraudulent claims. I notified the police and Medicare.

I hope this will prevent someone from doing what I unfortunately did. The phone number that I got was actually Medicare; Medicare does not have badge numbers and, please, let every one know that Medicare also does not make phone calls, just like the IRS. Thank you.
