Save a Stray 5K and Festival Aug. 26

The Save a Stray 5K and Festival (formerly Paws for a Cause) benefits the 3,300 animals cared for by Coastal Humane Society and Lincoln County Animal Shelter annually. This year’s event is on Saturday, Aug. 26 at L.L. Bean in Freeport.

Enjoy some exercise on a beautiful August morning with some friends (the canine ones, too).  All are invited to run the 5K, which starts at 8 a.m. or  or walk/ leisurely stroll beginning at 8:30 a.m.  

Afterward be sure to come to the Festival featuring food trucks, doggy demos, an Ask A Vet booth, an Amateur “Worst” in Show, face-painting, Pooch Smooch, and much more!

Register the day of the event at the registration table on the L.L.Bean Campus beginning at 7 a.m. Registration will be at the BEAN BOOT between Discovery Park and the Main Store.

The Save A Stray 5K walk route circles around the L.L.Bean campus and part of downtown Freeport. The 5K route is identical but repeats the loop once. Here’s the route: START on Morse Street (near the Bean Boot), LEFT on Cross Street, LEFT on Howard Place, RIGHT on Main Street, RIGHT on Holbrook Street, RIGHT on Snow Road, LEFT on Elm Street, Turnaround on Elm Street, RIGHT on Main Street, RIGHT on Justin’s Way, LEFT on Cross Street.  REPEAT! (5K ROUTE ONLY), FINISH on Morse Street by Bean Boot.
