Santa visits Boothbay

Mon, 11/28/2016 - 8:00am

Santa Claus arrived for his annual wish-gathering visit in Boothbay Saturday evening, Nov. 26.

Mr. Claus’ plan was to greet children in  the gazebo on the Boothbay Common, but his weather advisors informed him of possible rain and, out of concern for dozens of his fans, he directed his helpers to host him at the Boothbay Fire Department. Despite the last-minute itinerary change, Santa Claus, a seasoned traveler, arrived at the fire station aboard Tanker Engine No. 2 at precisely 6 pm. Chief Dick Spofford escorted the weary traveler to the second floor via elevator. A long line of excited children awaited him at Santa Corner and he wasted no time in getting to work. He listened carefully to their wishes and promised he would do his very best to grant them.  He also encouraged them to continue being kind.

Mr. Claus’ next visit to the region is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 3 during the 31st Annual Harbor Lights Festival. Santa arrives at the Town Dock at 1 p.m.
