As winter is bearing down on us, many are looking for fun things to do since our normal activities have ceased. My friends at Burke’s Island Farm have something new to offer. Every Wednesday night, several of us (some experienced horseback riders and some never ridden before) gather to share conversation, hors d'oeuvres and always a few good laughs. I have found it to be an awesome midweek night out to fuel a love of horses.

“Adult Night at Burke’s Island” as it’s called, is not only a great way to get introduced to horses and meet new people but raises money for the youth riding program. Funds help pay for student lessons, camp and equipment. To date, they have raised nearly $550. Every young person deserves to know the love of horses if you ask me.

Find us in the barn every Wednesday night from 5:30-8:30, bring a dish to share (if you wish), suggested donation is $10. Burkes Island is located at 20 Lindsay Rd.. Boothbay, Maine and can be reached at 207-350-6122 Come saddle up with us!
