Rotary Club cancels annual auction

Mon, 06/01/2020 - 7:45am

The Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club regretfully has decided to cancel the 63rd annual Rotary Auction scheduled for the first Saturday in August. All the tents were ordered, committees formed and our hard working pick-up teams were answering calls and starting to fill the Rotary Barn. Then, the COVID-19 pandemic changed everything.

As reluctant as we are to cancel this fun community supported event, the health and safety of all participants is the first concern of the Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club. We are exploring the possibility of a small yard sale in August. This will depend on the status of the pandemic at that time and our ability to provide adequate safety precautions to participants.

We will no longer be picking up items at people’s homes. We will be accepting furniture, tools and collectibles in good condition at our clubhouse by appointment. We will also be selling items from the Rotary Barn by appointment. Send a text to Deb at 207-380-3550 or Irene at 207-315-5429 to make arrangements. Text only, we will not respond to phone calls.

The Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club appreciates all the support we have received for our annual Auction from this remarkable community over the last 62 years. We could never have pulled them off without all your help. It certainly would not have been as much fun without you.

Many community organizations count on the financial support from the money raised at our annual Auction. If you can help fill this gap please mail a check to the Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club, P.O. Box 518, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538. Please write 2020 Auction in the memo line. Together our community can meet the challenges of these extraordinary times.
