Rev. Suzanne F. Colburn to open All Saints services June 15
All Saints by-the-Sea Episcopal summer chapel is pleased to announce that our opening services, on Sunday, June 15, will be led by our Boothbay Harbor neighbor, the Rev. Suzanne F. Colburn. Please join us at 8 and 10 a.m. as we celebrate Holy Communion and rejoice in the beauty of the new season on Southport Island. Rev. Colburn will also lead a discussion of the week’s scriptures on the chapel porch on Tuesday, June 17 from 9 to 10 a.m. Organist Mr. Henry Lowe will enhance our worship with his tremendous musical talent at both Sunday services. Worshippers of all faiths are invited to join both gatherings.
Rev. Colburn was ordained in 1998 and after working in the Diocese of Massachusettes for most of her career, Suzanne returned to Maine to be closer to family and friends. She recently concluded a seven-year ministry at Emmanuel Lutheran Episcopal Church in Augusta. No stranger to the Boothbay region in her ministry, Suzanne served as interim priest at St. Columba’s in Boothbay Harbor. One of her delights of this ministry was supporting the passion for outreach that both All Saints by-the-Sea and St. Columba’s share. A Greenwich Village New Yorker by birth, Suzanne began her combined call of street and parish ministry in Boston where her love of Bach Cantatas and liturgical music began. When not engaged in ministry, she may be found heading to the airport for an adventure with friends and family.
All Saints by-the-Sea is located on Southport Island about two miles south on Route 238 on All Saints Road to the left. An Episcopal Church sign marks the side of the road. Parking is available along Route 238 with a limited number of handicapped spaces off All Saints Road. A golf cart will ferry persons from the handicapped spaces to the church steps. The chapel dock is available for private boats. The historic, wooden chapel is open during the week for private prayer and meditation.
