To my fellow Boothbay Harbor residents:

My name is Michael Tomko and I’ve chosen to run for re-election as Boothbay Harbor Selectman. While many may know me through my previous years of public service, I want to provide a bit about my background and my strong desire to continue serving our community.

I’ve been a resident since 2007 and volunteered in the Harbor since practically the first day I arrived. I’ve served on our Planning Board since 2008 and served as chair for six years, helping guide our neighbors through the application process, determined to keep our town viable and preserve its heritage. I’ve focused on economic and community development since 2010, serving on the Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission Executive Board, helping to promote sustainable land use, transportation and housing development throughout our county. In 2014, I worked to review and develop strategic goals in a successful update of our Boothbay Harbor Comprehensive Plan. This road map helped to shape our Joint Economic Development Committee where I and members from both Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor continue to promote economic growth in ways that preserve the quality of life for our residents.

In 2016, I was elected as Boothbay Harbor Selectman. During the past three years, I’ve been involved in all facets of our municipal governance, serving our community, and balancing growth with a respect for our past. I intend to continue to be part of finding solutions to the challenges we face, including capital projects to preserve our footbridge and fish pier, working to improve our year-round economy, and creatively addressing our critical housing issues.

Boothbay Harbor is my home and it’s where I make my livelihood as a general contractor and architectural designer. Being a Selectman is not just about experience. It’s about continuing the passion to sustain our town and the desire to get it right. Right for all of us. Now, and for future generations.
