The 21st annual Dolphin Mini Golf open took place the weekend of Sept. 6 and 7. There were a total of 22 players in the pro tournament, six in the senior division (62 and over), four in the junior division (12 and under), and nine in the amateur division.

The tournament raises money for the Shriners Hospital for Children. The poker run tournament raised $490, and the donation bucket at the Ice Cream Hut run by Stoddard's stepdaughter Katrina Dunsmore raised $1,810 (since the second weekend in May when they opened).

Owner of the Dolphin Mini Golf Lee Stoddard announced Monday that the 2014 overall donation to the Shriners Hospital will be $4,450.

First place winner this year was Peter Gilchrist with a total score of 349 (10 rounds of 18 holes). Second place went to Randy Rice (356), third to Lee Stoddard (359), fourth to Caleb Jones, fifth to Pat Sheridan, sixth to Dusty Stoddard, seventh to Nancy Gilchrist, and eighth to Joshua Tiberio.

There were also prizes for other accomplishments. For the first hole-in-one made on hole 15, Caleb Jones took the $100 prize. Every player took an extra shot on the 18th hole, and any hole-in-one earns the shooter $100. Joshua Tiberio was the only player to make his shot.

Lastly, as this is the 21st Dolphin Open, the player who was in 21st place (Bob Stoddard) got a trophy and $100.

In the junior division, first place went to Michael D'Amelio, second to Gabe Stone, third to Addie Stone and fourth to Adaline Barter.

In the senior division, first place went to Bob Stoddard, second to Randy Stevens and third to Ainsley McPhee.

In the amateur division, first place went to Eric Smith, second to James Barter and third to David Levin.

Next year will be the year the Dolphin Open breaks the $100,000 mark for raising money. Stoddard wouldn't elaborate on what is being planned, but said it would be “something special.”
